Amanda Cancilla (Tattoo Artist)

In the fall of 1996 I started into the school of Biology at Purdue University. During my first year, I met someone who would introduce me to the art of tattooing. In the two and a half years that followed, I watched him gather equipment and knowledge of that art form.

In the second semester of our junior year, we both moved to Indianapolis to attend IUPUI. I enrolled and started the Visual Communications Program at Herron School of Art, and continued to watch my friend grow as a tattoo artist.

By the middle of my first year at Herron, I realized that I just might not want to do graphic design for the rest of my life. So, I asked him to help me get started. Well, six years and a college degree later, I work at Artistic Skin Designs, doing what makes me the happiest. It is my dream job and I couldn't imagine doing anything else.

I will be leaving Artistic at the end of May, 2008 and going to Bend, Oregon to pursue a business opportunity.  If you have any work that needs to be completed or would like to get a tattoo, please contact the studio to get an appointment.
